The Chicago Gospel Music Awards (CGMA) was created for the purpose of honoring and celebrating the achievements of Chicago based professional artists. The CGMA is an annual event that takes place every year in the city of Chicago.For one night only, Friday, June 13, 2014, nationally and internationally acclaimed musicians, pastors, community leaders, and gospel music lovers will fill the 10,000 seat auditorium of House of Hope, located 752 East 114th Street in Chicago for an exciting night of music, entertainment and awards.
This unforgettable night will be hosted by Pastor John Hannah of New Life Covenant Church and Angela Martin of “Angela and You for Two” on Clear Channel radio Inspiration 1390. The confirmed and invited line up of artists and presenters are, Grammy Award winners Donald Lawrence, Anita Wilson, Jonathan McReynolds, Todd Dulaney, New Direction and other of Chicago’s nationally acclaimed artists. This evening will feature dynamic choirs, including Rev. Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Choir, Grammy Nominated Dr. Bill Winston & Living Word Recording Choir, along with other inspiring choir and artist performances. The Chicago Gospel Music Awards will salute the pioneers who paved the way, with achievement awards goingto Rev. Dr. Clay Evans, Posthumous Dr. Charles G. Hayes and The Barrett Sisters.
Chicago is the “Gospel Music Capital of The World", and it will be well celebrated as such, during this event. Gospel enthusiasts will gather at this event to pay homage to the city that pioneered a plethora of great careers and inspiring artists.
There will be a Red Carpet event at the beginning of the evening, and plenty of opportunity for press and interviews. This event will be covered by both local & national media, and will be taped in HD for television to be aired at a later date. We will be presenting awards in ten categories including "Song of the year", "Contemporary Choir of the year", "Contemporary male vocalist of the year“, "Contemporary female vocalist of the year“ and "Group of the year" to name a few.
